4th Annual Child Abuse Prevention Poster Contest Winners
The Hardin County Job & Family Services along with the Kenton Kiwanis would like to invite the public  to  stop in at kudoStudio, 106 W. Columbus St., Kenton to see Hardin County students’ winning posters from the poster contest.  Posters will be on display now through April 30th.  Also, please look for the billboards throughout the county highlighting the artwork of these talented students. 

The billboards are sponsored by Hardin County Job & Family Services, Kenton Kiwanis and the Ohio Childrens Trust Fund to bring awareness to the issue of child abuse & neglect. According to the US Department of Health and Human Services, a child who is overly compliant, passive or withdrawn may be experiencing abuse or neglect. Together we can make a difference. 

Please report concerns of child abuse or neglect to the Hardin County Children Services at (419) 675-1130.  In an emergency, call 9-1-1.  To report abuse, neglect or dependency after hours, call the Hardin County Sheriff’s office at (419) 673-1268 and an on-call worker will be paged 24 hours per day.

Hardin County Historical Museums to Participate in
Second Annual Ohio Memory Madness

Hardin County Historical Museums and the Ohio Historical Society invite you to participate in the Second Annual Ohio Memory Madness – a bracket of sixty-four historical objects from across the state all competing for the unique distinction of being named the 2014 Ohio Memory Madness Champion.

Since the historical objects featured in the bracket are unable to play tournament style basketball, the winner of Ohio Memory Madness will be determined by public online voting at: http://www.ohiohistoryhost.org/madness/. The Hardin County Historical Museums is proud to have Jacob Parrott’s Medal of Honor represent Hardin County in this exciting statewide competition. Jacob Parrott was the person to be awarded the Medal of Honor in  1863. 

The Medal is on display at the Museum 223 N. Main St., Kenton. Objects will go head to head beginning March 18. For more information contact Linda at 419-673-7147, or on Facebook at Hardin County Historical Museums.

Celebration of Life
Not by Choice Outreach is sponsoring, “Celebration of Life” a banquet for those fighting the battle, those who've won the battle and for the families of those who've lost the battle to cancer. Spring Fling Craft Show and Home Show
The Annual Spring Fling Craft Show and Home Show which will be held Saturday, April 12, 9am-3pm at the Hardin County Fairgrounds. Sponsored by the Rhinehart United Methodist Women, the event features ideas and products to remodel your home, as well as many gift and seasonal items. Dolly Parton Imagination Library Spring Basket Auction
The Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library of Hardin County is having its 2nd annual on-line Spring Basket Auction. Bids are being accepted now and will close at 12 noon April 12 at https://sites.google.com/site/imaginationlibraryofhardinco/. Baskets are donated by areas businesses and individuals and  are pictured and described on the site. 

The baskets can be seen in person as noted on the site. (they are at public libraries throughout the county) When the auction closed the library with the basket will contact the bid winner and the basket may be picked up and paid for at that location. All proceeds go to support the Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library of Hardin County which provides age appropriate books mailed directly to registered children from birth to age 5 throughout Hardin County. Parents will find registration forms at each of the county public libraries as well as at www.imaginationlibrary.com.

Pinwheels for Prevention
April is Child Abuse Prevention Month, a short ceremony will be held Monday, April 21, 4pm – 5pm at Southeast corner Hardin County Courthouse honoring the children who have suffered at the hands of an abuser and celebrate the prevention and intervention efforts taking place in keeping our youth safe.

Cyber Security Awareness Series
The Northwest Ohio Manufacturing Extension Partnership (MEP), Rhodes State College and the West Central Ohio Manufacturing Consortium will hold a Cyber Security Series this spring. These breakfast meetings will be held Friday mornings.  Topics and dates are outlined below.  Cost is $20 per person per session and includes breakfast.
