Cessna Minutemen 4-H
By Jessica Breidenbach
The Cessna Minutemen met on Tuesday, June 17th. The club was given a tour of the Van Deurzen Dairy operation near Alger.
Members got to see the carousel milking system that is used, as well as the barns that house the over 5000 cows at the facility. Following the tour, club President, Zac Breidenbach called the meeting to order. There were 14 members present. The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Wesley Lowery and the 4-H pledge was led by Jessica Breidenbach.
Members were given information about a Cloverbud day on Wednesday, June 18th from 2 to 5 at the fairgrounds. Members were reminded about the county Quality Assurance on Thursday from 7:00 to 8:30 at the fairgrounds.
All members taking livestock must attend Quality Assurance in order to be eligible to show their animal at the fair. At the next meeting, on July 8th, the club will hold a mock judging for those taking non-livestock projects.
Members should bring all materials that they plan to take to judging. Judging will be July 14th and members will be notified once they are able to schedule online for those judging times. 4-H camp is July 21-25 at Camp Ohio.
The advisors asked for volunteers to do Health and Safety demonstrations and to be a part of the "creative team" to work on the fair booth. Officers will be giving demonstrations at the next meeting which will be July 8th at 7:30 at Walnut Grove church.
