Ada band launches competition season in great style
The Ada Marching Bulldogs began its 2014 competition in fine fashion on Sept. 20.
After arriving at the school bright and early Saturday morning to march in the annual Harvest and Herb Festival parade and opening the crowning of the queen festivities, the band traveled to Louisville High School, near Akron, for the first competition performance of the season.
Ada placed second in its division, while receiving top honors for general effect, visual effect and best auxiliary (or best color guard). In addition, the color guard was a mere 2 points from being named best guard overall regardless of school size. Overall, a solid opening performance for the band.
The competition set this year is titled "Apocalypse" and represents society's growing fascination with destruction, the end of the world and a zombie apocalypse.
The Marching Bulldogs will perform next at the Ada High School football game Friday, Sept. 26, in Bluffton, and at Revere High School in Richfield, Saturday, Sept. 27.
