ONU will host ceramic 3-D workshop, lecture April 22-23
The Ohio Northern University Department of Art and Design will host ceramic 3-D printing artist Greg Pugh in the Wilson Art Center on April 22-23. Pugh will give an artist lecture about the development of ceramic printing technologies in room 115 on Wednesday, April 22, at 8 p.m. On Thursday morning, he will lead a workshop focusing on developing forms suitable for 3-D printing with Maya and Mudbox software.
Both the lecture and the workshop, funded the Cultural and Special Events Committee (CASE), will be free and open to the public. Space is limited for the workshop. Please contact Luke Sheets at [email protected] for availability and additional information.
Three-dimensional rapid prototyping is a process by which virtual designs, often rendered with computer-assisted design software (CAD), are transformed into actual objects.
Pugh is interested in the complexity of what life gives us. The work that that he creates explores how layers of information are built up on one another to form a complex structure. He started working with clay and technology at a very early age. Pugh shaped the way he thinks about the world and how he moves through it. He began working with clay in Grand Rapids, Mich., and furthered his education at Bowling Green State University, where he received his BFA in 2010. Pugh is currently the director of technical operations for Tethon 3-D.
