March 10-11 featuring ONU, Geneseo State, Hope and Christopher Newport

No. 5-ranked Ohio Northern will host the NCAA Division III Women's Basketball Tournament Sectionals this weekend.

The NCAA intitally announced Geneseo State as the tournament host on Sunday, but made a correction 45 minutes later with Ohio Northern as the host.

The Polar Bears will host No. 20-ranked Geneseo State on Friday, March 10, in a Sectional Semifinal game as part of a double header at the ONU Sports Center.

No. 18 Hope (Mich.) and No. 10 Christopher Newport (Va.) will also play on Friday night in Geneseo.

Times will be announced on Monday.

Ada's Tori Wyss takes her turn cutting down the net Saturday night at the ONU Sports Center after the Polar Bears came out on top after a close contest with Trine University, Angola, Ind. ONU won 55-48 and advances to the sweet 16 in NCAA Division III play on Friday at a site to be determined. ONU remains unbeaten this season---in regular play, OAC tourney competition, and in the current NCAA action. Northern led most of the game but only by 2 to 4 points.

ONU was at home for their first two games of the women's basketball Division III NCAA Championships at the Sports Center Friday and Saturday. ONU meets Trine University, Angola, Ind., at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. Trine defeated Illinois Wesleyan 63-56 on Friday. ONU is nationally ranked 5th while Trine is ranked 15th.  A large crowd was on hand for the ONU contest on Friday night even though spring break has begun on campus. Receives Order of the Cross of Terra Mariana from the Republic of Estonia

Ohio Northern University Professor of Communication Arts Emeritus Nils Riess has been awarded the Order of the Cross of Terra Mariana from the Republic of Estonia.

The Republic of Estonia bestows as gratitude and recognition various state decorations on persons whose activities have maintained and reinforced the independent Estonian state. Riess has been chosen as a recipient of this award in recognition for the contributions he has made for the republic.

ONU among best of the best for high-impact learning

Numbers don’t lie: Ohio Northern University is among the best in the country when it comes to high-impact learning opportunities for students, per a 2016 national survey.

According to The College Student Report 2016, Ohio Northern University students continue to pursue high-impact learning opportunities at a higher rate than most college students.

The report, produced by National Survey of Student Engagement (NSSE), details responses from more than 300,000 first-year and senior students attending 512 U.S. universities. The survey was conducted last spring.

High-impact learning opportunities include internships, co-ops, field experience, capstone projects and more.

Proceeds from the Ada Music Booster's detergent sale will go toward the production of this spring's Ada High School musical "The Wedding Singer." Deadline for orders is March 22.

The sale features detergent, fabric softener, and dish soap packaged in a 5 gallon bucket with a pump for easy dispensing.  These are high quality private label products not affiliated with big name brands.  

Each bucket sells for $45.  The detergent and fabric softeners are available in a variety of scents. Detergent and dishwasher PODS are also available.  A container of detergent PODS will wash 200 loads while a container of dishwasher PODS will wash 250 loads for the same $45 price.
