McGUFFEY - Upper Scioto Valley senior standouts Emily Patton and Shelby Spradlin combined for 51 points to lead the hosts past Hardin County rival Ada 80-46 in their annual girls basketball showdown Tuesday night.
Patton poured in 26 points on the strength of six three-point goals, while Spradlin netted 25 markers.
The Lady Bulldogs fell to 7-10 after the defeat. Meanwhile, the Lady Rams improved to 13-3 with their sixth consecutive win at Alumni Fieldhouse.
WESTERVILLE, Ohio – The Ohio Northern wrestling team picked up another dual meet victory Tuesday evening in the Rike Center, defeating host Otterein 30-9.
This victory improves the Polar Bears to 10-2 overall and 3-0 in the Ohio Athletic Conference. This keeps the team tied at the top of the OAC along with #9 Baldwin Wallace and Heidelberg.
Ohio Northern also clinches its third consecutive winning season and its 10th straight non-losing campaign.
Otterbein falls to 12-5, 1-3.
Ohio Northern was led by freshman Nate Barcaskey (Moon Township, Pa./Moon Area), who picked up a fall at heavyweight for Ohio Northern.
Harold Cotsamire will lead exercises at Senior Citizen meetings beginning Wednesday, Feb. 8, at Community Health Professionals, 1200 S. Main. The exercises are designed to help people maintain an active lifestyle and balance to ward off falls.
The exercises are designed to keep muscles and joints moving. Exercises include those sitting in a chair or beside a chair, including stretching and bending.
All people 55 years old or older are invited to join the Senior Citizens for $10 a year. The group meets twice a month at CHP for various activities.
Melinda (Murphy) Gallman will be one of two women inducted in the Apollo Career Center Hall of Fame. A graduate of Ada High School and Apollo, she is currently the director of finance for the PPG Coating Services Metokote Corp. The ceremony will take place Thursday evening in the Apollo Commons during a meeting of all area boards.
Mercedes (Hatcher) Brookman is the other recipient. A graduate of Elida High School, she is currently Is working in the child development division in the Department of Defense and is pursuing her Occupational Therapy Doctorate, with a goal of becoming a pediatric oncologist.

Many basketballs were raffled off to win pizzas at the Teen Dating Violence Awareness event during the JV and varsity boys basketball games in Ada on Saturday evening.

Another set of mini balls were tossed out to the crowd at halftime of the varsity game. Players for both teams wore orange socks, which is the group's color.
The Hardin County Family Safety Coalition sponsored the event to discourage teen dating violence.
