The Ada Schools issued the following announcement, regarding masking on Ada school buses, on Feb. 16, 2022:
Dear Bulldog Community,
As we continue to monitor our district COVID Safety Plan, we are encouraged to report that we have seen a significant decrease in positive cases in Hardin County and within Ada Schools during the month of February. As a result, we have adjusted our safety plan and updated the plan on our school website. The plan has been revised to allow for “optional masking” on the school buses beginning Feb. 22, 2022.
The Ada High School girls basketball team seriously threatened favored Parkway before they succumbed to a late run and fell 45-39 in a Div. IV sectional first round barnburner Wednesday evening, February 16, at Shawnee.
The Lady Bulldogs rallied from a slow start and won the middle quarters, 25-14. Ada led by as many as six points in the third period, and held a 34-29 margin late in the quarter.
But Parkway ended the game on a 16-5 run to pull off the hard-fought victory.
The Lady Bulldogs finished their season 8-15 with the difficult defeat. They put together an 8-7 record in non-conference play.
Coming off a 2021 season in which it earned its first Ohio Athletic Conference Tournament bid in program history, the Ohio Northern women's lacrosse team returns 18 letter winners as it looks to build on that achievement in 2022 under seventh-year head coach Beth Hemminger.
"We've seen a lot of growth over the last few years," Hemminger said. "We've had a lot of youth, so last season was a good opportunity for our players to get a lot of experience. Now our younger girls are elevating their games and stepping up into leadership roles."
Emily Boerger joins Hemminger this season as an assistant coach after serving in the same position for the Swiss National Team in 2021.
The Ada High School wrestling team won a dual match and lost one at a triangular event against local rivals Kenton and Riverdale in a match at Mt. Blanchard on Tuesday evening, February 15.
The Bulldogs lost a close match to Kenton 34-24, but defeated meet host Riverdale decisively 36-18.
Ada started out ahead of the Wildcats 12-0 after wins by Liam Vieira by pin at 54 seconds at 120 lbs., and a forfeit for Rowan West at 126.
Josh Arnett won a forfeit at 150 lbs. for Ada, as did Chase Caldwell at 157 to put the Bulldogs back in front, 24-16. But Kenton rallied to score the last 18 points on two pins and a forfeit to capture the match.
