Ohio Northern University’s Freed Center for the Performing Arts will present “The Not So Newlywed Game with Bob Eubanks” on Saturday, Sept. 5, at 7:30 p.m.

“The Not So Newlywed Game with Bob Eubanks” is a live replica of the television game that uses married couples that are either newlyweds or feel like newlyweds.

“The Newlywed Game” was one television’s most popular game television game shows, and, in 2013, TV Guide ranked it No. 10 in its list of the 60 greatest game shows ever.

Boys in grades 1 through 5 are invited to Join Scouting Night, at 6 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 2, at the Ada school, according to Don Spar, Cubmaster.

“Give it a try,” said Spar. “Sign-up takes place in the school cafeteria.”

All boys who register now receive a free rocket when they join Ada Cub Scout Pack 124. There is a $10 registration fee to join.

The rocket is free to boys who join on or before Sept. 2. It is also a ticket into the family-geared “Deliver the Promise” event at Camp Berry on Sept. 19. Boys are invited to bring their assembled rocket and launch it.

Apollo Career Center board of education will meet at 7 p.m., Monday, Aug. 31. Ada's representative on the board is Ron Fleming.

 The Ohio Northern women's soccer team will look to have continued success during the 2015 season.

Head Coach Mark Batman returns 22 letter winners from the 2014 squad that went 10-7-2 overall and finished second in the Ohio Athletic Conference play with a 6-2-1 record. The Polar Bears also made their ninth straight appearance in the OAC Tournament.

ONU's 2015 roster is made up of nine freshman, 11 sophomores, eight juniors, and three seniors.

"The hope is that the young players who gained valuable experience last year play like a seasoned group and understand how to manage tight games," said head coach Mark Batman.

Apache M. Williams, 75, died on Saturday, Aug. 29, 2015 at 9:09 p.m. at Hardin Memorial Hospital Emergency Room, Kenton.

She was born on Feb. 27, 1940, in Ada, Ohio, to Harry H. and Margurite (McElroy) Williams who preceded her in death.

Apache retired from International Paper in Kenton where she worked in the Quality Dept. She was a member of the Ada VFW Post #9381 Ladies Auxiliary.

The Icon will begin to cover Ada council meetings this fall. The next meeting is at 6:30 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 1.

Among items on council's agenda includes review of Aug. 20 bid opening for solid waste contracts that begin Dec. 1.

Bids were received from Republic Services, Waste Management and Allen County Refuse. The village currently contracts with Waste Management.
