Ada's latest news

Noah Pinkney (center) received the $500 Ada High School Alumni Association scholarship this year. He is pictured with Sara and Michael Rush, Association co-presidents at the group’s annual banquet on Saturday evening in the school cafeteria.

Noah, the son of Rachel and Jason Pinkney, has enrolled at Carleton College in Northfield, Minn., to study physics and math. He already has earned 22 credit hours of college math while attending ONU during his high school years. He is an AHS valedictorian, played soccer, and was a member of the successful quiz bowl team.

Following another successful season under the guidance of Michele Durand, the Ohio Northern women's basketball team will tip off its 2018-19 schedule at the Allegheny (Pa.) Tip-Off Tournament from Nov. 16-17.

The Polar Bears will play two contests during the tournament, with the opponents yet to be determined.

Following the Allegheny (Pa.) Tip-Off Tournament, Northern will open the home portion of its schedule on Nov. 20 as it welcomes area-foe Defiance to the ONU Sports Center before hosting Ohio Wesleyan at home on Nov. 24.

It was a zoo, latterly, at the opening of the Ada Public Library summer reading program. There were goats and sheep, giant rabbits, a calf, bagpipers, steel band drummers, used books for sale, a fire truck, ambulance, police cars, and more. Here are Ken Collins photos, capturing some of the fun people, of all ages, had on Saturday. Oh, yes, and lots of people signed up for the summer reading program, too.
