As Hardin County recognizes its farmers and agribusinesses for National Agriculture Day March 15, crop yields from the 2015 growing season have been released from the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) National Agricultural Statistics Service.  

Although these crop production numbers are based on estimates, they are used for crop insurance and government reporting purposes.

“Have you ever seen Maverick up at Cedar Point? It’s based on that,” he says. “It’s just being built on a much smaller scale.”

Did he just say he’s building a miniature version of the Maverick roller coaster?

For the first time in over five years, area residents are invited to a Bluffton business expo where they can view products and services of over 21 local businesses.

Ada area businesses are invited to have a table at the expo.

With 21 businesses signed up  and more anticipated, it's the Bluffton Oscars Mix and Mingle business expo, at The Centre on Thursday, March 24.

Claude Clayton "Bud" Smith, ONU emeritus faculty member, recently release "Ohio Outback," a book published by Kent State Press.

The book is a unique compilation of writings by Smith about his experiences of living in Ohio for the past 22 years.

Smith offers a vibrant, humorous portrait of life that focuses on individuals and events in out-of-the-way places throughout northwest Ohio.

Tawa Tree Service in Ottawa was in town on Wednesday to structure trim 100 Bradford pear trees along Main Street. Some of the ornamental pears have suffered from fire blight the past couple of years; two dead trees have been removed.

The trees were trimmed to try to keep them healthy so all of the trees do not need to be replaced. The damage from fire blight is partially determined by the type of spring weather we will have.
