Cholesterol is often mentioned in conversations about health, especially heart health, but many people don’t fully understand what cholesterol is or why keeping an eye on it is so important. Cholesterol is a waxy, fat-like substance found in every body cell. It is vital in producing hormones, vitamin D, and substances that help digest food. While the body needs some cholesterol to function properly, having too much in the blood can pose serious health risks.
On Thursday August 21, the Ada Board of Education will hold a regular meeting at 6:00 p.m. and a reception at 5:30 p.m. to meet new hires for academic year 2025-2026.

During the public comment opportunity, Ada resident Kevin Wagner presented his ideas on providing water for a single flat rate for commercial and residential customers. He said, “We should take care of people first. Residents are paying for businesses’ water.” Council and legal counsel Jane Napier discussed infrastructure costs. Wagner also raised the subject of a Zoning ordinance that prohibits alcohol sales within a certain distance of churches and schools. Napier responded that state authority has superseded local ordinances since 2021 but that “laws change all the time,” so the ordinance will stay on the books.
