LIMA BATH__The visiting Ada High School boys soccer team tied non-league foe Bath 1-1 on Thursday night, August 21.
The Bulldogs ran their record to 2-0-1 with the tie. WBL rival Bath is 0-1-1 after the result.
“It was a gritty performance that builds character,” said Ada second-year head coach Aaron Acheson. “This was a great test for us. The boys played with their heart and truly left it all on the pitch.
“It was great to have Bradyn back out there, overcoming an ankle injury that kept him out of the first two games,” he continued. “Jacob Rush made some great saves for his team.
“I am proud of how our program handled tough situations against a team we’ve fallen to the past two years,” the coach added.
Junior Andrew Allen scored the Ada goal with 30 minutes left in the first half on an assist from junior Tim Chrissobolis.
Bath tied it with their lone goal a few minutes before the end of the initial half. Neither team was able to score in the second half.
The Bulldogs put 10 shots on goal compared to 20 by the Wildcats.
Bulldog keeper Jacob Rush made a season-high 14 saves in goal. The Bath keeper made nine stops.
“Our JV squad set the tone with a hard-fought 1-0 victory before the varsity match,” Acheson summed up. “Overall, it was a great night for Ada soccer.”
Ada visits backyard rival Allen East (0-0) Saturday at noon.
