Harvest is mostly complete with a few corn fields that still need to be shelled, according to Mark Badertscher of the Hardin extension office.
According to the Nov. 30 Ohio crop weather report, corn is 92% harvested in Ohio and 69% of the wheat is either rated good or excellent.
Soybean harvest is wrapped up in Hardin County. During the growing season, from April 15 through Oct. 15, average rainfall was 20.35 inches, which made 2020 a dry year. This is 4.57 inches below the 10-year average growing season precipitation, and 5.76 less inches of rain than last year’s growing season.
The area experienced 3.6 inches of snow on Nov. 30 for the first snowfall of the season, according to Guy Verhoff, Pandora weather observer.
And, in case you wonder, November was warmer than most Novembers.
Verhoff reports that the average temperature in November 2020 was 45.8 degrees. That’s 4.3 degrees warmer than the normal November average temperature of 41.5 degrees.
The November 2020 high temperature was 78 degrees recorded on Nov. 8 and Nov. 9. The low reading was 20 degrees on Nov. 14.

ADA - Despite the pandemic and costly losses due to injuries, the 2020-21 Ada girls basketball team looks to continues its steady upward climb to increased competitiveness under third-year head coach Morgan Bass.
Six letter winners and four starters are back from a team that went 7-15 overall (0-8 in Northwest Conference) last season. Ada was markedly more competitive than the prior season, when they won one game.
The team had no seniors on its roster last year, but lost two key players to injury before the first practice.
