Holidays, filled with memories, can be difficult for those who have lost loved ones.
Hanson-Neely Funeral Home, Ada will hold its 13th annual remembrance service at 3 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 10, at its Ada chapel, 311 E. Lima Ave., according to Bruce Neely.
Persons attending may arrive anytime between 2 and 3 p.m. Upon arrival, a personalized ornament will be given to the family to place on a large Christmas tree. It will be in memory of someone from the family attending the service.
A short memorial service will take place at 3 p.m. A time of sharing and light refreshments will follow.
Blanchard Valley Hospital was recently honored with an “A” grade in the Fall 2016 Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade, which rates how well hospitals protect patients from errors, accidents, injuries and infections.
The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade uses 30 measures of publicly available hospital safety data to produce a single “A,” “B,” “C,” “D” or “F” score representing a hospital’s overall capacity to keep patients safe from preventable harm. More than 2,600 U.S. hospitals were graded in Fall 2016, with 844 hospitals receiving an “A.”
Ada and Liberty Township voters’ will cast ballots on a wide range of local, state and national candidates and issues on Tuesday, Nov. 8.

One of the local issues on the Nov. 8 ballot is an Ada Public Library renewal levy. The Icon held an in-depth discussion about the levy with Amanda Bennett, library director.
Icon: Why is this levy important for the Ada Public Library? Bennett: Due to library funding cuts, libraries, through 2015, we are still functioning on the same budget schedules as they had been in the late 1990s.
Voters passed the library's first 1-mil levy for operating costs in 2012. On Nov. 8 is a renewal of that levy.
