The Ada High School quiz bowl team finished second out of 16 teams at the WTLW-TV Quiz Whiz held this week at WTLW in Lima.
On Tuesday, the upper bracket field was reduced from eight teams to two. In the opener, Ada scored an opening round win over Bath by one question. In the second round, the Bulldogs bested Celina to advance to the semifinals.
In the second night of competition, Ada defeated Versailles to advance to the final match, facing St. Mary’s High School. St. Mary’s had advanced to the finals by winning both of their matches in the Wednesday lower bracket matches. The lower bracket was also a field of eight.
Vancrest of Ada hopes that youngsters will add their new facility on their Halloween route on Thursday, Oct. 27. Trick or treat time there is from 5:30 until 7:30 p.m.
"Our residents are very excited to enjoy the costumes and give the kids loads of candy," said Randy Cox, administrator.
Vancrest, which opened this year, is located at 600 W. North Ave. across from the Ada Schools.
