Artist reception Wedneday at 4 p.m.

A gallery reception for artists in the current exhibit at Elzay Gallery, ONU, takes place at 4 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 28. The show features works by The All Weather Gang, painters of western New York.

William Mancuso of the ONU art faculty describe the artists this way:

"The All Weather Gang is a group of diverse individuals – think aerospace
engineer and English teacher to graphic designer and owner of a construction company – from Western New York State who have met almost every Saturday for decades to go outdoors and paint in weather that at times would give even the U.S. Postal Service reason to reconsider.

Before we close the book on this year's Harvest and Herb Festival, here are photos of two of the performing groups from the main stage last Saturday.

Raegan Cox, an America's Got Talent contestant, performed. Her mother is Heather Cox of Liberty National Bank.

Also performing are Harvest and Herb veterans Jim Boedicker and Brad Wright (photo below)

Las Vegas comedian performs on Oct. 1 - tickets now on sale

By Monty Siekerman
(A Las Vegas comedian performs there on Oct. 1, see end of story for details and watch the video)

Don't read this if you're hungry because you'll want to grab your car keys and head to the 235 Grill in Alger before you finish the story.

The Grill, located in the heart of town, serves large portions of mouth-watering ribs, chicken, kabobs, salmon, filet mignon with all the fixins. Oh, and pizza, too.

And, you better get there early or call ahead on steak or rib nights. They serve 150 dinners, that's it. When they are gone, they are gone.

A comic tale with serious political implications

The Ohio Northern University Department of Theatre Arts will present the Greek comedy “Lysistrata” by Aristophanes from Sept. 29 through Oct. 2 in the Freed Center for the Performing Arts.

Performances will be held at 7:30 p.m. on Sept. 29, Sept. 30 and Oct. 1, with matinee performances at 2 p.m. on Oct. 1 and Oct. 2.

The play pushes boundaries at every turn of the plot and speaks truths to the audience.
