Many different cultures have gods, goddesses and symbolic figures to help promote fertility for a couple. Besides Greek mythology, there are at least 33 different cultures that have some form of good luck for a couple when trying to have children. Even my Pennsylvania Dutch background has a barn (hex) sign for fertility. Despite these thoughtful good luck charms, the reality is that infertility is more prevalent than many may realize. This is a topic that many individuals are really not comfortable in sharing or talking about, which can include miscarriages and loss of pregnancy. It can be hard to find support when many are afraid to disclose the issue.
After sheltering during a tornado warning on the evening of May 3, the Icon took advantage of joining the 6:30 p.m. Ada Council Meeting via Zoom. The council had a quorum while councilors Sheila Coressel and Linda Mason served as Ada poll workers.
All items voted on were approved unanimously.
MAYOR’S COMMENTS
In his comments, Mayor Dave Retterer noted that the village had come through a pretty good storm. He also reported on a meeting with Ohio Health Group and shared the invitation to provide input on what additional medical services might benefit the Ada area. Councilor Jason Campbell noted that Ada High School is in need of athletic trainers.
“I can’t say enough about that young man,” says Vickie Wolber, owner of Norada Lanes of Troy Caskie, in whose name the bowling alley will hold two benefit events in May 2022; “He just had a smile that when you saw it, you couldn’t be in a bad mood anymore.”
Troy Caskie passed away on September 6, 2021 at age 31. A graduate of Cory-Rawson High School, he was married to Jessie Melton Caskie. His obituary describes him as “a family man whose greatest joy was spending time with his wife and family.”
