University hosts Ohio Pharmacy Residency Conference in May >
The Ohio Northern University Raabe College of Pharmacy will host the fourth annual Ohio Pharmacy Residency Conference (OPRC) on Friday, May 13.
Pharmacy residents are required under American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) residency standards to complete and present the results of a research project. ASHP is the national professional organization whose more than 40,000 members include pharmacists, student pharmacists and pharmacy technicians who serve as patient care providers on health care teams in acute and ambulatory settings. OPRC was formed in 2013 to accommodate Ohio-based residencies that wish to take advantage of a smaller, one-day, centrally located conference.
The conference provides an opportunity for residents to present their projects to peers, preceptors and other colleagues. In addition to the educational opportunities, this conference provides a chance for members to network with residents and preceptors from a variety of programs within Ohio, Michigan and Indiana. Since the conference was formed, it has accommodated close to 300 residents from the region. In 2015, more than 160 pharmacists attended the conference in support of their residents, some acting as evaluators.
Residents will have 22 minutes to present their projects followed by a brief question-and-answer period. Each presenter will be provided written feedback from evaluators who have attended their session. This feedback will be given to the preceptors at the completion of the conference. Interested residents are encouraged to register on or before April 1, 2016, to secure their spot on the conference schedule and to receive early registration pricing.
Interested residents can see details and register online at www.ohioprc.com. Questions can be directed to Dr. Michael Rush at 419-772-3933 or [email protected].
