Hardin County Herb Society has several activities planned this year
The Hardin County Herb Society kicked off the 2016 growing season with a meeting at the Amherst Greenhouse near Harrod.
Mary and Adin Horst gave a tour of "What's New" for 2016, which was preceded by a carry in meal.
We saw the marvels of modern planting techniques as demonstrated by Adin. With a large selection of plants we made plans to return April 15 for the opening of the 2016 year at the greenhouse.
The Herb Society will be featuring peppers-capsicum as the herb of the year with many special programs throughout April - December.
On April 19 the group will meet at The Crossroads Church of God at the corner of Thayer and Route 309 for a nature walk through "Deep Woods" the church's outdoor sacred space.
A stop at Teddy Bear Park on Old Dixie Hwy. will include a short wildflower hike, business meeting and refreshments. The public is invited to meet at 6:30 p.m. at Crossroads Church of God.
In case of inclement weather call for information 419-371-8518 or 567-204-5101.
The Hardin County Herb Society will be participating in the May 7th Saturday plant sale at the Hardin County Fairgrounds in the Arts and Crafts Building 9 a.m. to noon.
Care of a portion of the Friendship Garden of Kenton will be a year long community project for the group.
