Ada council met on August 5 on the second floor of the Ada Municipal Building, 114 W. Buckeye, with live viewing available online via Zoom. (Next meeting link) The meeting was conducted by Mayor David Retterer. Opening businesses included the paying of bills listed in the meeting packet.
NEW BUSINESS
With Streets committee chair Linda Mason and Village Administrator Amanda Sears absent, Jeff Oestreich presented information from a recent memo from Sears that provides new ideas to address the issue of on-street parking near the N. Gilbert St. ambulance bay. There is not enough room for ambulances to back into the garage when cars are parked opposite the building.

The memo lists 1) partial widening of N. Gilbert by removing the tree lawn opposite the ambulance bay and 2) full widening of the street as options in addition to 3) making a no-parking zone. Oestreich said he would ask Sears for a rough idea of associated costs.
A Streets Committee meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, August 12.
PUBLIC COMMENT
Individuals attending the meeting included Xander Wells, a write-in candidate for council and Luke Rowe, a Republican candidate for council.
Ada resident Kevin Wagner addressed council and noted that he received an email from Village Counsel Jane Napier saying that he had been insensitive and rude in emails to Village council and staff. At previous council meetings Wagner has presented reasons why council should institute a flat fee for water. He said, "I don’t like businesses being treated better than people." He concluded that he was going to give up trying to change their minds and would try for an initiative to be determined by voters.
When Napier had her turn to present to council later in the meeting, she said that Wagner had attempted to engage with council via email. She advised council members that public meetings provide the transparency required by the State of Ohio and appreciated that they did not answer the email.
