This week's Ada Icon Veggie Garden of the Week belongs to Sophie and Russ Crawford and their grandson, Tristan Seitanakis.
Recent events prompted the Crawfords, who live on North Main Street, Ada, to plant their garden, not only as a way to raise vegetables for eating, but also to help educate their 6-year old grandson on the importance and rewards of gardening.
While Tristan enjoyed the construction and planting phases, the Crawfords admit that weeding and tending to the plants doesn't seem to have the same appeal to their grandson. Some things never change.
Two Ada Boy Scouts from Troop 124 advanced in rank at the summer Court of Honor held in Ada War Memorial Park.
Jadon Holbrook earned both the Second and First Class rank in his first year in scouting.
Robby Waters achieved Star rank, only two steps away from the coveted Eagle Award.
Boy Scout Troop 124 meets each Monday at 6 p.m. at the park’s scout cabin. Don Spar and Tom Lehman are the troop scoutmaster and assistant scoutmaster.
Seth Owings has been named an assistant men's soccer coach at Ohio Northern.
Owings graduated from Heidelberg in 2017 with a bachelor's degree in History and Political Science and graduated with a master's degree in sports administration with an emphasis in coaching and leadership in 2020.
As a sophomore in 2014, Owings was a part of the first-ever Heidelberg men's soccer team to win the Ohio Athletic Conference Tournament and earn a berth in the NCAA DIII Championships.
After a career-ending injury prior to his junior season, Owings began coaching as a student assistant with the Student Princes through his graduation.
Can it be that time already? Five weeks from now Ada will be home of several thousand additional residents as Ohio Northern University resumes in-person residential classes in early August.
