Bulldog cross country, volleyball and golf results

COLUMBUS GROVE - The Ada cross country team kicked off their season by running in the 25-team Columbus Grove Invitational Saturday morning.

"All the kids took 1-3 minutes off of their times we recorded in practice Wednesday, and competed well," said first-year head coach Josh Klein. "I am very happy with their performance; it is a great way to start the season."

Freshman Abbie James took 11th in the 110-runner girls race with a time of 20:48 over the 3.1-mile course to post the top Bulldog finish.

Eric Armbrecht paced the Ada boys with a time of 19:43, good for 90th in the huge 164-boy field of big and small school runners.

Larry Zembower ran a 21:55 to finish 132nd, followed by Seth Evans (22:38, 137), Keaton Kipker (23:14, 141), Andrew Robey (24:03, 144), Brayden Cheney (25:01, 145) and Brice Ferguson (26:01, 146).

Olivia Ennis finished second among the Ada girls in a time of 24:08 to end up 54th. Alexis Ennis was third (25:55, 76), followed by Mara Guyton (26:18, 78), Jil Wolber (28:38, 90, Nora Dellifield (29:03, 91) and Dani Waugh (31:06, 93).

Ada runs at the Spencerville Invitational Saturday, September 10 at 9 a.m.

Lady Bulldogs shut out by unbeaten Rams

ADA - Visiting Upper Sandusky overcame the Ada girls soccer team 7-0 with a big second half Saturday morning at the park.

The Lady Bulldogs fell to 1-2-1 overall while Upper improved to 4-0.

The game was scoreless at halftime, but the Lady Rams exploded for seven goals after intermission to win going away.

Megan Hensel tallied three goals and Sierra Carey scored two times to pace US. Alivia Oney and Audrey Boes each added one goal.

Ada keeper Rielyn Castle made 13 saves in goal as the Rams out-shot the Bulldogs, 23-3.

The Bulldog girls play at Riverdale Wednesday, September 7 at 5 p.m.

Kenton wins county Invite match

KENTON - Host Kenton won the five-team Hardin County golf invitational Saturday.

The Wildcats posted a score of 182 to easily out-distance Ridgemont (209). USV finished third (211), while Ada (279) came in fourth, three strokes ahead of last-place Riverdale (282).

The Bulldog linksters were led by senior Taylor Ramey, who shot a 64. Austin Amburgey posted a 70 while Nathan Hurtig tallied a score of 71. Alex Morgan registered a 74 while Jake Colwell carded a 79.

Ada (1-15) plays next in an NWC four-team meet at Bluffton with Paulding and Crestview September 6.
