Look at the big stories in Ada in 1914:

May 1914 - Ada’s first theatre, named “The Odeon” opened in a building erected by Jacob Clum. Thomas and Bradley were the operators. The first show was “The Girl at the Curtain.”

July 17, 1914 - First Farmers & Merchants picnic held in Ream and Milnor Grove, later known as Community park, and later still War Memorial Park. Over 4,000 people were in attendance. Profit of $95.43, sale of privileges $7.00. The first picnic was sponsored by the Business Men’s club.

August 1914  - A red light was placed on the public square to enable telephone operators to signal the night police in case of emergency.

November 1914 - Ada High School forfeited a football game at Bowling Green, walking off the field in the third quarter when the score was 12-12, after questioning official decisions.
