What gets covered on the Ada Icon? The squeaky wheel.

The Icons rely on media releases, newsletters, emails, conversations at chamber meetings, chats at council and school board meetings, and social media for news leads, details and photos.

KENTON __The visiting Ada Gators summer swim team split a West Ohio Aquatic League dual meet at county rival Kenton Monday, June 16, at the Kenton outdoor pool.

The Gator boys improved to 3-0 with a decisive 293-138 win over the Stingrays. The Ada girls lost 396-117 to drop to a 1-2 dual meet record.

Kenton thus won the boys-girls meet, 534-410. Ada fell to 1-2 this season in the combined category.

Ada ace Lydia Demascio captured five first-place individual finishes in the girls 15-and-over age group to pace the Gators.  

Adaite Jacob Szippl touched first in four races in the boys 15-and-over bracket.

Q. What are you most excited about in your new Village Administrator role?

A. Getting to know Ada! It has been such a welcoming community and I am looking forward to meeting the residents and finding all of the treasures Ada has to offer.

Q. Who or what had the biggest impact on your life growing up?

A. Watching my parents work hard and strive to provide the best opportunities for me has always left an impact on me. They are a great representation of hard working, loving, humble people and I strive for that every day.

Charles W. Robinson, Sr., age 91, of Lima, passed away on Saturday, June 14, 2025 at the Springs of Lima. 

He was born on November 24, 1933, in Dunkirk, Ohio to the late Omar and Lena (Courad) Robinson.  In 1970 Charles married Helen R. Newberry Shepherd and she preceded him in death on September 30, 2022.  

Charles is survived by his son, Chuck Robinson of Findlay; three step children: Henry Shepherd, Jr. of Lima, Dave (Nancy) Shepherd of Cridersville and Judy (Don) Hastings of Kenton; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren; brother, Henry Robinson; and special niece, Barbie.

Judith K. “Judy” Tackett, age 78, of Ada, passed away on Friday, June 13, 2025 at Mercy Health-St. Rita’s Medical Center, Lima. 

She was born on February 5, 1947 in Kenton, Ohio. Judith was preceded in death by her father Howard Stanley and Frankie (Hicks) Stanley.
