At 6:00 p.m. on April 27, the Alger Public Library will host a meet and greet with poet Jessica Weyer Bentley. The event includes a book signing, as well as coffee and snacks to enjoy as Bentley reads some of her poetry. The library is located at 100 Wagner St, Alger.
Playing at home in War Memorial Park on Friday, the Ada High School softball team picked up another win, beating Ridgemont 10-3. The non-league win put the Bulldogs at 11-1. Ohio Northern University Provost and V.P. of Academic Affairs, Julie Hurtig, Ph.D., announced that Stacey Lowery Bretz, Ph.D., has been named the next dean of Ohio Northern University’s Getty College of Arts & Sciences. She will begin as dean on June 19 and will succeed Chris Bowers, Ph.D., who has been serving as interim dean.
“We’re so pleased to welcome Dr. Bretz to our Ohio Northern University community,” says President Baumann. “As an accomplished educator and administrator who cares deeply about student success, we’re confident she will lead and guide the Getty College of Arts and Sciences, in partnership with faculty and staff, ever forward in strengthening the college’s current programs while moving forward in innovative ways to meet the needs of tomorrow’s students and employers.”
Playing at home, the Ada High School varsity baseball squad run-ruled Ridgemont 10-0 in five innings Friday evening, April 14.
Ada improved to 3-5 overall with the victory. Ridgemont fell to 7-3 with the defeat.
“The kids played well,” said Ada head coach Toby Smith. “Roman (Snyder) pitched strikes and we got timely hits. If we can do that more often, we will see similar results.”
