There’s a new boutique in town and the owners, Rayel Rose and Rachel Daley, were having an open house on Saturday. Dear Darling Boutique is temporarily located at 202 S. Johnson, but will move into the Charter Realty Office near McDonald’s in mid May. Watch for more Ada Icon stories about the new business closer to the time when they open in what was the carriage house for one of the oldest homes in Ada.
ADA - The Ada boys tennis team swept visiting Wauseon 5-0 on a windy Friday evening at the park courts.
The Bulldog netters improved to 7-1 with the lopsided victory.
Senior Zach Beaschler improved to 11-0 this spring with a straight-sets win at first singles. Stroking the ball conservatively amid the strong winds, he forced his outmatched opponent into many unforced errors to stay unbeaten.
Junior Cade Mullins gutted out a tough three-set win at second singles to increase his season record to 9-1.
Sophomore Isaac Spar also won at third singles in two tough sets.
ADA - Host Ada scored 10 runs in its final two at bats to break open a tie game and defeat visiting Vanlue 16-6 in a non-conference baseball game Friday evening.
The Bulldogs improved to 4-11 overall with the victory. Ada out-hit Vanlue 12-10 and took advantage of nine walks and eight Vanlue errors to pull away late.
Sophomore Phillip Coulson hurled a complete game, scattering 10 hits and giving up no earned runs to earn his second victory.
Ada led 6-0 before Vanlue rallied to tie it with six unearned runs in the top of the fifth inning.
ADA - The host Ada softball team crushed Vanlue 13-0 Friday evening in a non-conference mismatch on a windy Friday evening.
The Lady Bulldogs improved to 11-6 after the win, the last regularly scheduled home game of the spring. Ada s expected to play a sectional game at ahome, and will likely add a home game in the interim between May 3 and May 10.
Ada freshman hurler Leona Dalton pitched a two-hit shutout over five innings to earn her ninth victory. "Leona pitched for the third straight day and threw well," noted Ada head coach Troy Erickson.
The 4x800-meter relay team of junior Ian McVey (Stow/Munroe Falls), sophomore Andrew Shelton (Williamsville, N.Y./Williamsville South) and seniors Alec Lunney (Middleburg Heights/Berea-Midpark) and Matt Molinaro (Sterling Heights, Mich./DeLaSalle) capped off a solid start for the Ohio Northern men's outdoor track and field team on day one of the 2018 OAC Championships at Kerscher Stadium.
The Polar Bears are currently in third place with 25 points.
