Soccer: Lady Bulldogs fall to Knights
Bearcats win NWC golf tourney

DELPHOS - Regular season champion Spencerville won the nine-team Northwest Conference golf tournament crown Wednesday at the Delphos Country Club.
The Bearcats won with just 341 strokes. Lincolnview took second (353), followed by Paulding (362), Bluffton (373), Allen East (375), Columbus Grove (383), Crestview (384), Delphos Jefferson (416) and Ada (469) in ninth.
"All the guys have improved a lot," said Bulldog head coach Jason Campbell of the young team's progress. "We have met the team goals that were set at the beginning of the season.
"We came a long way, but there's always more work to do," he added.
Freshman Brevin Sizemore topped Ada with an 18-hole score of 53-56=109. Junior Austin Amburgey tallied a total of 64-51=115. Sophomore Alex Morgan registered a 52-66=118 and junior Jake Colwell carded a 64-63=127 to round out the Bulldog scorers.
Junior Rob Allison posted a 61-68=129 while sophomore Ethan Hull added a 65-72=137 total.
Aaron Belcher of Bluffton won the NWC individual crown with a score of 37-36=73.
Spencerville (15-1 NWC) swept the league regular season and tourney titles. Bluffton and Paulding tied for second in the season standings at 13-3, with Lincolnview fourth at 10-5. AE finished seventh at 4-10 while Ada ended up ninth at 0-16.
Ada hosts Ridgemont Thursday in a dual match at Bluffton at 4:30 p.m. to end the regular season. The Bulldogs defeated the Gophers early in the season, 192-228.
Ada then plays in the 13-team Div. III sectionals at Sycamore Springs Sept. 28. The Bulldogs, Allen East, Arcadia, Bluffton, Carey, Colonel Crawford, Columbus Grove, Leipsic, McComb, New Riegel, Upper Scioto Valley, Van Buren and Waynesfield-Goshen comprise the sectional.
The top three teams and top three individuals advance to the district meet.

ADA - The Ada girls soccer team was shut out 7-0 by visiting Van Buren Wednesday evening.
The Lady Bulldogs dropped to 2-6 overall with the non-league defeat. VB led 3-0 at the half and tacked on four more scores after intermission.
"They were a strong team that controlled the ball well," said Ada head coach Doug Poling of the Lady Black Knights. "We didn't play poorly, just got beat by a better team.
"All their goals were on through balls that ended in breakaways. We controlled play for 20 minutes of the second half and had a few opportunities to score. Other than that, we played defense."
Senior Anney Archer made 20 saves in goal for Ada. VB out-shot the Bulldogs, 27-9.
Ada (1-1-0 NWC) visits league foe Bluffton (3-1-3, 2-0-0 NWC)Saturday at noon.
