HARROD - The visiting Ada girls soccer team played well but lost a 3-2 battle at backyard rival Allen East in the Northwest Conference and season finale Monday evening.
The Bulldog record ended up 5-12 overall and 4-3 in the NWC after the defeat. AE improved to 8-7-1 and 6-0-1 in the league with the victory to tie Bluffton for the NWC crown.
Ella Poling scored first to give Ada a 1-0 lead, but the Mustangs rallied to take a 2-1 edge by halftime on scores by Helser and Lawrence.
The Bulldogs tied it 2-2 on a Gizem Tanriverdi goal. But AE's Richardson netted the go-ahead goal in the final 15 minutes, and the Mustangs held on for the hard-fought win.
Hailey Callahan passed out one assist for Ada. McKenzie Long made 20 saves in goal for the Bulldogs. Ada was out-shot by AE, 25-11.
"We played as well as we have all season," said Bulldog first-year head coach Doug Poling. "Even though we lost, it was a great game to end the season on."
