CHP auction raises several thousand dollars

By Monty Siekerman
About 100 people attended the Community Heath Professionals annual Beacon of Hope dinner and auction on Thursday evening at the CHP community room. Several thousand dollars are raised annually during the auction to benefit CHP hospice programs.

Following dinner, Bud Jackson, of De Graff, volunteered his auctioneer talents during the live auction. Also, many silent auction items were available for bidding before and during the dinner.

Claudia Crawford, BSN, RN, CHP nursing supervisor, said CHP caregivers were available for discussions and evaluations. She encouraged people to pick up the phone and call CHP at 419-634-7443 whenever the need arises for hospice care. She said the sooner, the better for all concerned, including the person reaching the end of life and the family.

A lighthouse presentation was made to the family of Helen Mae (LaRue) Sprague, a 1950 Ada High School graduate. She was past president of the World War I women’s auxiliary of Hardin County. She led several Bible studies. Helen retired from Lost Creek Nursing Home.

Alison McClintock provided music. Tavern 101 catered the dinner.
