The Ohio Northern football team received 25 votes in the second weekly 2018 D3football.com, released on Sunday.
This marks the 15th time in the last 17 seasons that the Polar Bears have been been mentioned in a national poll.
The 25 points is the 30th-most in the poll.
The Polar Bears (2-0 overall, 1-0 Ohio Athletic Conference) received 14 points in the preseason poll, and 13 points in the first weekly poll last week.
Ohio Northern joins Mount Union (#1), John Carroll (#20) and Baldwin Wallace (31 points) as OAC schools in the poll.
The Ada Public Library will host a hayride and pumpkin picking at Suter’s in Pandora on Tuesday, Sept. 18. All storytime groups are welcome. Songs and a story will be shared on the ride. Those interested may meet at Suter’s at 10:45 a.m.
Cost is $4 per person and covers the hayride and a pumpkin. Suter’s is located at 12200 Pandora Rd. In Pandora.
Kate Witte, ONU head volleyball coach, will go after her 700th career victory at 7 p.m. on Tuesday at the ONU Sports Center. The Polar Bears will play Bluffton. She has been at the helm of the Ohio Northern volleyball program for 29 years.
To mark the 100th anniversary of the end of World War I, Dr. Karl Roider is teaching a course at the Ada Public Library. This week’s session, which begins at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, will be about trench warfare. All are welcome to attend.
Dr. Roider is a retired history professor and dean at Louisiana State University. He returned to his hometown of Ada following retirement. He and his sister, Ruth, who owns Gallery for the Arts, graduated from Ada High School. Their father, Karl, served as chair of the ONU music department for many years.
Forty-five youngsters from Ada and surrounding communities audition for the ONU Holiday Spectacular on Sunday afternoon at the Freed Center.
