Carol Slane Florist, South Main Street, Ada, was the location of the most recent Ada Cash Mob. The event, Tuesday afternoon, was sponsored by the Buy Ada First Committee, which encourages shopping local. Click here for a video.
Kevin Plaugher sounds a lot like James Taylor. At least that's what the Icon thinks. You can see, or hear for yourself. Plaugher, Ada High School grad, is one of the performers on the 28th annual Ada Area Chamber of Commerce Harvest and Herb Festival.
This year's event is Saturday, Sept. 21 in downtown Ada.
Plaugher returned to Ada this summer at the invitation of Fred Reichter to perform at Music on Main in July. A short video of that performance is at the bottom of this story.
Plaugher will perform from 12:30 to 1:45 p.m. Mike Wright and Jim Boedicker will take the stage from 2:15 to 3 p.m.
Roberta Acosta, a rural development specialist from Toledo, will discuss the Hometown Cooperative grant during the noon Wednesday Ada Community Improvement Corp. (CIC) meeting according to Angela Polachek of the village.
"A team of representatives from the Ohio Rural Community Assistance Program (RCAP) visited Ada on Aug. 26 to discuss the grant," said Polachek. Acosta will talk about the grant in greater detail during the CIC meeting.
The meeting is at noon in McIntosh Center on the Ohio Northern University campus. Agendas and CIC financial information will be available at the meeting.
The secret’s out. The Buy Ada First Committee, planning the community’s fourth cash mob, this week announced the location of the event.
The cash mob takes place at one of Ada’s prominent retail businesses, Carol Slane Florist, 410 S. Main St., Ada, from 3 to 5 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 17.
“Shannan Brown welcomed our invitation to host this event,” said Heather Cox, member of the committee. “We hope to continue more cash mobs in Ada in the future.”
