          John C. Williams, age 87, died on Monday, May 15, 2017 at 8:47 p.m. at Vancrest of Ada.

          He was born on November 17, 1929 in Allen County, Ohio to Robert and Edna (Archer) Williams, who preceded him in death.   On January 31, 1981 John married Cleo E. DeLong who preceded him in death on June 11, 2016.

          John worked as a Postmaster with the U.S. Postal Service.

ADA — Three members of the Ohio Northern women's tennis team were named All-Ohio Athletic Conference for 2016-17 in voting conducted by the league's nine head coaches.

Junior Lynn Kelly (Mason) and sophomore Ashley Ochsenhirt (Brimingham, Ala./Briarwood Christian) were named First Team All-OAC.

Senior Christina Corbean (Dayton/Oakwood) was a Second Team All-Conference honoree.

Kelly is now a two-time All-OAC award winner as she was also a First Team All-OAC pick as a freshman in 2014-15.

This season, Kelly went 5-2 at Nos. 1 and 2 singles and 8-3 at No. 1 doubles, while battling a series of nagging injuries.

ADA — Ohio Northern won the Ohio Athletic Conference Women's All-Sports Trophy for the 2016-17 season.

This marks the second consecutive title and the 11th crown overall for the Polar Bear women's teams.

ONU edged Mount Union 80.00-79.25 on the strength of OAC titles in volleyball, soccer, basketball and outdoor track and field.

Northern also finished second in tennis and indoor track and field and was third in golf and swimming and diving.

The cross country team was fourth and the softball team finished fifth, giving ONU upper-division finishes in 10 of the 11 OAC sponsored sports in 2016-17.

Bluffton Family Recreation, 215 Snider Road, Bluffton, hosts two Challenger Sports soccer camps this summer.

TetraBrazil Soccer Academy is Monday to Friday, June 5-9, for youth ages 6 to 18.

The camp combines training to music, learning Brazilian techniques, footwork, moves and training from Brazilian soccer coaches.

Campers may choose a half-day or full day camp option.

Fees are $169 for half-day with the choice of 9 a.m. to noon, or 1 to 4 p.m. camp, or $219 for full day, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

WORTHINGTON — Seniors Ashley Borchers (Russia) and Cully Gordon (Holmesville/West Holmes) (XC/Track) were honored as Ohio Northern's Clyde Lamb Award winners for 2016-17 by the Ohio Athletic Conference at a reception on Monday evening.

The prestigious Clyde A. Lamb Scholar-Athlete Awards are presented annually to a single male and a single female from each of the league's 10 institutions.

Criteria for the award include at least two years participation in an OAC-sponsored sport, senior status, a minimum grade point average of 3.00 and sportsmanlike conduct in a manner that has brought credit to the student-athlete and his or her institution.

Friday evening in the auditorium

The popular Ada High School Spring Fever Follies will be held Friday, May 19, at 7 p.m. in the auditorium.  

This year’s Follies titled "It's a Musical" features students performing solos, duets and large ensemble songs from musicals. 

Eighteen graduating choir members will be recognized during the program. The Ada Jrunior Varsity Singers will again be a part of this year's Follies. 

Over 40 1st-6th graders are "Broadway Bound" with numbers from The Lion King, Into the Woods and Get on Your Feet. 

General Admission is $5 at the door. The ticket office opens at 6 p.m.  Scott Henning is the choir director.
