It's a tough call to say this is a "historic" Ada photo, since it's only 10 years old. Even so, it's an interesting photo. Here's the Ada High School marching band during the 2006-07 school year.

Here's a plate seen frequently in Bluffton on a white Ford. It stands for Dunifon Oil, a former Bluffton business.

Remodeling underway for a party place; Bingo will continue in February

By Monty Siekerman
J.R. and Linda Mason have purchased the building south of Railroad Park and are remodeling it for a party place called the Center on Central.

Old-timers will recall the one story structure at 111 Central Ave. as Hal and Jean's Restaurant, built by Hal and Jean VanAtta in 1962, a time when Ada had few eating-out places. Twenty years later, the restaurant was purchased by the N Men's Association and used for Thursday night bingo and as a rental place for parties.

Bingo will resume at Center in Central every Thursday beginning on Feb. 2, supporting the Ada Music Boosters, Ada-Liberty Fire Department, and Lions Club.

Max Gauthier, the Ada Public Library tech expert, shows Jane Parsons a few pointers on using an iPad during a class at the library on Saturday morning. He also taught library patrons about the Kindle later that day. Max will teach a  free class at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 28, titled "Overdrive: your digital library from anywhere."

Bill and Beth Ann Bass stand below the new sign that has now been installed on their restaurant at 1O1 S. Main, formerly Little Mexico. Why 101? The number is in the address and 101 refers to many college courses, which is appropriate in this university town. Saturday's lunch business was booming.
