The 2022 Made in Ada Wilson Football Festival looked good, sounded good, smelled good and tasted good. The Tailgate Party coordinated by the Ada Area Chamber of Commerce at Depot Park was a dramatic contrast to the surrounding quiet streets of Ada on Saturday evening, August 27.
Entertainment included two live bands--Voodoo Lane and the Shifferly Road Band--and presentations celebrating local football teams. Children enjoyed dancing and playing a variety of games. Folks lined up to try the foods provided by a fleet of mobile vendors--everything from a classic boat of french fries to lobster sandwiches and Belgian waffles on a stick.
Between 7:30 p.m. and sunset on August 29, area skies transformed dramatically. Views went from highly textured black, greys and white to a smooth wash of vivid pinks, purples and oranges.
The Ada High School boys soccer team defeated visiting backyard rival Allen East 5-1 in the Northwest Conference opener on a muggy and eventually rainy Monday evening, August 29, at War Memorial Park Stadium.
The Bulldogs improved to 4-0-1 overall and 1-0 in the NWC with the win. The contest was called with 5:20 remaining to play due to the bad weather conditions.
AE fell to 0-1 overall and 0-1 in the NWC with the defeat.
Ada jumped to a 2-0 early in the first half and never trailed.
After nearly winning a second straight Ohio Athletic Conference championship last season, the Ohio Northern women's golf team returns a bevy of talent as they try to reclaim that crown in 2022-23 under 10th-year head coach Chad Bucci.
"We finished last year on a disappointing note, but I couldn't have been any prouder with the season we had overall," Bucci said. "I believe that with the experience gained by the underclassmen last year, we're going to be even better than what we were last season."
