Bulldog Brown wins regional hurdles crown

FOSTORIA __ Ada High School senior Jackson Brown raced to first in the 110-meter high hurdles at the Div. III track and field regional meet in Fostoria on Friday, May 24.

Brown was second in the preliminary heats Wednesday, but then turned it up in the finals to win by .04 with a time of 14.70.

Brown qualified for the Div. III state meet May 30-June 1 at Dayton’s Welcome Stadium with the victory.

The AHS boys 4x100 relay team of Logan Jolliff, Trevor McGue, Jackson Brown and Gavin Oldfield broke a school record set in 1980 with a time of 44.5 in the finals. The foursome finished seventh at regionals.

Ada junior Kennedy Jones ended up 10th in the girls shot put. 

The 2024 OHSAA state tournament is May 30 - June 1, 2024 at Welcome Stadium, Dayton.

Brown will compete in the boys 110 high hurdles semifinals Thursday, May 30 at 4:40 p.m. 

The boys 110 high hurdle finals will be held Friday, June 1 at 6:30 p.m.

Memorial Day weekend 2024 news schedule

May 23, 2025__The Ohio Department of Higher Education has designated Ohio Northern University as a Collegiate Purple Star campus for its efforts to support students with military backgrounds.

AHS softball pitcher Bassitt repeats as 1st team all-district

Ada junior Jenna Bassitt repeated as a first team all-district selection for Div. IV softball in voting recently conducted by the area coaches.

Bassitt led Ada to an 18-4 overall record and second place in the Northwest Conference with a 7-1 mark in 2024. 

She posted a 17-4 pitching record with an earned run average of just over one run per game. She also led the team in batting average, on base pct., runs scored and stolen bases.

Bassitt struck out 196 batters in 139 innings pitched. Her 17 victories set a program record for wins in a season.
