Ada – officially in the record books

Ada is official in the record books – the Guinness World Record book, in fact.
Many viewers reading this may have participated in the record-setting event. It was on Friday, Oct. 25 of this year at War Memorial Stadium.
On that autumn afternoon 950 people simultaneously threw an American football – coincidentally, an Ada-made Wilson football – and the rest is history.
The brainchild of Dan Lee, Ada middle and high school principal, Guinness notified him earlier this month of the success of the project, calling it “officially amazing.”
The record is an event for the entire community. A letter posted on the Icon from Lee recognizes the part played by many participants. CLICK HERE to read the letter.
And, for the record, here’s the wording on the official Guinness World Record plaque now the property of Ada schools:
“The most people throwing an American football simultaneously is 950 and was achieved by Ada Schools (USA) with the support of Wilson Football Factory, Ohio Northern University and Liberty National Bank, in Ada, Ohio, USA on 25 October 2019.”
How long will this record stand? First. you need over 951 people to agree to participate. Second, you need over 951 footballs. Third, you need an enormous supporting cast.
Our guess is this record won’t be challenged in our lifetime, perhaps never.
