Adoring doors.
One of the Ada school holiday traditions is a door decorating contest, with over 30 doors competing for prizes.
The judging criteria incluees class participation, neatness, amount of the door covered, theme and creativity, and which door speaks to your holiday heart.
A three-team judging panel of David Retterer, Ada mayor, Rhett Grant, Ada Public Library director, and Fred Steiner, Ada Icon editor, chose this year’s winners, which follow:
Grand champion K-2 –Meghan Kosier
Grand champion 3-5 – Julie Burris
Kindergarten – Meghan Kosier
First grade – Rachel Ludwig
Second grade – Preston
Third grade – Brittany Daniels
Fourth grade – Deone Rieman
Fifth grade – Julie Burris
Specials – Gwen Jochim
A 6-point judging system devised by Arlene Allison follows:
0 points – Bah Humbug
1 – I don’t know what to say, except it’s Christmas and we’re all in misery
2 – Looks great, little full, lotta sap
3 – The best way to break Christmas cheer is singing loud for all to hear
4 – Every time a bell rings, an angel gets its wings
5 – God bless us, everyone
6 – And that’s what Christmas is all about Charlie Brown.
Rest assured, the competition was tough, and 5 and 6 points were the usual all-around scores.
