Ada Icon owners Fred and Mary Steiner have named Monty Siekerman editor of the online news outlet for the community.
Monty, who has been reporting and taking photographs for the Ada Icon for the past two years, joins other Ada residents in furnishing more than 40 local articles a week for viewers.
Amy Eddings reports and provides photos, Ken Collins takes feature photos, Cort Reynolds keeps readers up-to-date on local school sports, and Darlene Bowers writes features about local people and creates Ada Happenings, a caledar of Ada events.
The Icon caught up with Meri Skilliter a couple days after she accepted the superintendent position at Ada schools. She holds her principal/superintendent certification from the University of Findlay. Her superintendent certification courses are from Ohio State University. She holds a bachelor’s degree from Bluffton University and a master's in educational leadership from the University of Dayton.

When you were a student, what teacher excited you about making a career in education?
NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Senior Britt Lauck (Lima/Shawnee) scored a game high 17 points as she led the No. 17-ranked Ohio Northern women's basketball team to a 60-36 victory over Castleton (Vt.) on the first day of the Music City Classic held in Nashville, Tenn.
The Polar Bears remain perfect on the season and move to 10-0, while the Spartans fall to 6-3.
Lauck scored 17 points, while shooting 5-of-6 from the 3-point line and added two rebounds and two assists to lead the Polar Bears offensively.
Junior Amy Bullimore (Morrow/Little Miami) chipped in 11 points and pulled down four rebounds.
ADA — The Ohio Northern women's soccer team posted its 13th consecutive winning season in 2016 under 13th-year head coach Mark Batman.
The Polar Bears posted a 15-4-0 record and went 8-1-0 in the Ohio Athletic Conference, while winning the OAC Regular Season title and advancing to the OAC Tournament Championship finals for the second consecutive season.
This was the 11th consecutive season Ohio Northern has qualified for the OAC Tournament, and 12th OAC Championship appearance.
