The 2015 Ada High School alumni banquet will be held on Saturday, May 30, in the school cafeteria. The schedule of events will be as follows:

4:00 Registration and Reception
5:30 Dinner as catered by Henry’s Restaurant of Kenton
6:30 Alumni Program

During the program, Dr. Joe Baughman, AHS Class of 1950, will be induced into the Hall of Honors.

The Alumni Scholarship Award will also be awarded to Alexis Amburgey, a 2015 graduating Ada Senior.

This year’s honored classes are:  1935, 1940, 1945, 1950, 1955, 1960, 1965, 1970, 1975, 1980, 1985, 1990, 1995, 2000, 2005, 2010, and 2015.

The four hanging baskets installed near the Depot a year ago proved popular with residents and visitors, so an additional eight more baskets will grace Main Street this year thanks to some donations to the project. Four colorful baskets with cascading annuals will be put up at Main and Buckeye and four at Main and Lincoln. Individuals, businesses, and organizations wanting to donate to the basket project to further beautiful Ada may call the village office at 419-634-4045 for details. Beat the opening day rush to purchase your pass. Passes will be on sale at the pool on
Tuesday, May 19, from 4 – 6 p.m., and Wednesday, May 20, from 4 – 6 p.m.

Passes for Ada residents/taxpayers are $30 per person through June 1. After June 1,
the cost is $40 per person.

Five Ohio Northern student/athletes were named All-Ohio Athletic Conference in women's tennis for the 2014-15 season in voting conducted by the league's nine head coaches.

Senior Michelle Tuma and freshman Lynn Kelly were named to the First Team, junior Christina Corbean was named to the Second Team and juniors Meghan Letizia and Taryn Stromback receive Honorable Mention All-OAC honors.

ONU head coach Scott Wills was named the OAC Women's Tennis Coach of the Year.

Tuma is now a 4-time First Team All-OAC honoree.

She played No. 1 singles and No. 2 doubles this season, posting a 23-16 overall record.

Eula Mae Young, 89, died Wednesday, May 13, 2015, at 3:55 a.m. at Lima Memorial Health System, Lima.

She was born on June 24, 1925, in Rushylvania, Ohio, to Charles and Dora (O’Brien) Lansing, Sr. and they are deceased. She married Emmitt F. Young on Jan. 28, 1947 and he died Dec. 1, 1984.

Mrs. Young worked in housekeeping at Ohio Northern University for 15 years and at the Ohio Kentucky Manufacturing for 15 years. She was a member of the Grace Gospel Church of Ada.

Surviving is a brother, Roe Lansing of Ada; and several nieces and nephews.

Writing can be a lonely process. But it doesn't have to be!  

New Ada Library staffer Amy Eddings begins a bi-weekly meet-up for adult writers and aspiring writers at 6 p.m., tonight, Wednesday, May 13, at the Ada Public Library. 

Eddings will lead the group in writing practice exercises in the manner of Natalie Goldberg's classic guide, Writing Down the Bones. Copies of the book will be made available at the library.
