“Arlene wanted a red dress like the one in the movie White Christmas,” Dellifield recalled. “She asked for the dress for months, so I finally decided to make it.”

It all started with a 1954 movie, a request from a friend and a portfolio for college. Ada High School senior Nora Dellifield brought a holiday flair to her 4-H competition at the Ohio State Fair on July 31.

Now an accomplished seamstress, Dellifield was initially encouraged to sew by her grandmother. “I went to a 4-H meeting and sewing looked like fun,” she added. “My grandmother said she would help me, so I joined.” Nora makes some of her own clothes, but the category she chose at the State Fair this year was “Sewing for Others.”
Bonnie Marie Counts, 77, died on Wednesday, Aug. 7, 2019, at 6:33 a.m. at Vancrest of Ada, surrounded by her loving children.
She was born on June 29, 1942, in Salyersville, Kentucky, to Chub and Audrey (Holiday) Wireman who preceded her in death. On March 3, 1962, Bonnie married Richard L. “Dick” Counts and he preceded her in death on Oct. 7, 2018.

Ada resident Andrew Ward of 540 E. Lincoln Ave., earned deserved recognition on Tuesday by the Village of Ada and Ada Police Department.

Michael Harnishfeger, police chief, presented Ward with an Ada Police Department S.A.F.E.R Award (Seeking Aid From Every Resident) during Aug. 6 Ada council meeting.
According to Harnishfeger, Andrew’s willingness to get involved and assist the police makes Ada a safer and more secure community.

DELPHOS - The Ada golf team teed off its 2019 season by splitting a triangular meet Wednesday at the Delphos Country Club.
Host Delphos Jefferson won with 184 strokes, followed by Ada at 203. Crestview was third, 13 strokes behind the Bulldogs with a total of 216.
Junior Brevin Sizemore paced Ada with a score of solid nine-hole score of 46.
Senior Ethan Hull posted a 48 and sophomore Kamron Wilkerson was third for Ada with a 54. Junior Jake Morgan was the fourth scorer for the Bulldogs at 55.
Senior Alex Morgan added a 58 and sophomore southpaw Dexter Woods tallied a 67 to round out the Bulldog effort.
