Bi explores Ada

Today, Bi the polar bear explores Ada. This is the second installment of a four-part series describing Bi, the visiting polar bear from the Arctic, and his travels in Ada to find his friend, Klondike, the ONU mascot.

Yesterday featured photos of Klondike, a little history about him, and how he is helpful in Ada/ONU, but can be down right scary at sports events.

Saturday’s Made in Ada Wilson Football Festival has long-sleeved t-shirts available this year for $22 in sizes M, L, XL, and XXL. They are available now at Easter House Bed and Breakfast, 508 N. Main, phone 419-558-1071. The shirts also will be sold at the Depot on Saturday night.

The Ohio Northern women's basketball team fell five spots to No. 15 in the ninth weekly edition of the D3Hoops.com poll.

Northern (17-2 overall, 11-1 OAC) posted a 1-1 record in the conference last week after defeating Wilmington at the ONU Sports Center 71-48 and falling on the road at Capital 84-76.

Sophomore Nolan Huey (Fort Collins, Colo./Fossil Ridge) earned his third career OAC Men's Swimmer of the Week honor for his efforts during the week of Jan. 23-29.

The sophomore earned the honor for the second time this season after leading Northern during the week in the pool.

In ONU's tri-meet at No. 3-ranked Kenyon with Ohio Wesleyan and the Lords, Huey was third in the 200 free in 1:45.76 and the 100 back in :53.50.

Apollo Career Center will kick off Career Tech Education Month with the annual All Area Boards meeting held Thursday, Feb. 1, at 6 p.m. in the Apollo Commons.

This year, the Apollo Career Center is renaming and dedicating the large meeting room to the first Apollo superintendent Fred D. Goare. The room will now be called the Fred D. Goare Community Room. Members of the Goare family will be in attendance for the dedication.
