ONU senior Kase Schalois (Van Wert) won the 3,000-meter steeplechase to earn All-Ohio Athletic Conference honors and lead the men's track and field team on the first day of the OAC Championships and Muskingum University.
The Polar Bears are currently in second place after the first day of the meet with 53 points.
Schalois led a 1-2 finish for Northern in the 3,000-meter steeplechase as he won the event in facility record 9:15.66.
Junior Samuel Boyd (Killbuck/West Holmes) also earned All-Conference honors in the event as he posted a second place finish in 9:27.27.
The library board will meet in special session to discuss building plans. The meeting is set for 9 a.m. on Monday in the library's meeting room. All governmental meetings are open to the public.
The Hardin County Sheriff’s Office and the Kenton Police Department have received several reports of counterfeit $20 bills circulating during the past two weeks.
The Sheriff’s Office received a report of a red Mitsubishi occupied by two men and a woman in the area attempting to purchase Amish goods with the counterfeit $20 bills. On April 25, the Union County Sheriff’s Office assisted The Hardin County Sheriff’s Office in surveilling the red Mitsubishi. The vehicle was stopped near the intersection of CR 175 and Bales Rd.

Arthur G. Matson, age 87, died on Thursday, April 27, 2017 at 9:00 a.m.at his residence in Dola.
He was born on April 3, 1930 in Hardin County, Ohio to Lawrence D. and Pauline (Gillen) Matson who preceded him in death. On October 7, 1966 Arthur married Patricia Lee and she survives in Dola.
Arthur was a farmer, wood sculpter and artist. He was a 1948 graduate of Dola High School. Arthur served in the U. S. Army from 1951 to 1953 in the military police in Virginia. He was a member of the Dola Presbyterian Church. Arthur served as a volunteer at Lima Memorial Health System for five years.

Village officials celebrated Arbor Day on Friday at the school, giving all third graders a Picea abies.

The grade schoolers have been studying trees and know that's the name of a Norway spruce, and many other facts about trees, such as when did Arbor Day begin, what value are trees, and more.
