Helen Ruth Doak Wilson, age 96, of Ada, passed away on Thursday, July 10, 2025 at home, surrounded by her family. 

She was born on March 1, 1929 in Carnegie, Pennsylvania to the late E.D. and Bessie (Foster) Doak.  Helen was previously married to W.T. “Buzz” Wilson. 

Helen is survived by her three daughters: Maria Sparks of Johnstown, Ellie Laubis of Ada and Judith Camden of Columbus; two grandchildren: Deanna Laubis and Jared Camden; and two nephews: Foster (Pat) Doak and Dennis Doak.          

She was preceded in death by her son, David Todd Wilson; and brother, Foster Doak. 

JUNE 9 MEDIA RELEASE__On Saturday, July 19 at the Marathon Center for Performing Arts in Findlay, a free creative writing workshop will focus on genre fiction: Science-Fiction/Speculative Fiction, Fantasy and Romance--among others.

This workshop is a free in-person event and open to all writers High School age and older.

SCHEDULE

  • Morning: Craft talks with Writing Prompts
  • 11 a.m.-1 p.m.: Lunch on own in downtown Findlay, with time for writing.
  • Afternoon: Facilitated small-group workshops, followed by an open mic

The Blanchard Valley Health System Board of Trustees nominated new Board and Committee members at the recent annual meeting. As community leaders, BVHS Board and Committee members bring valuable insight and leadership that help ensure the organization continues to provide high-quality care, strategically plan for the future, and uphold its mission of "Caring for a lifetime." 

The July 2025 Ada Board Of Education Meeting is scheduled for Thursday July 17, 2025 at 6:00 p.m.

MEDIA RELEASE__For the next 3 weeks the Ada Municipal Pool will be opening early to the public for adults and children 12 & under to enjoy the pool.

All children must be accompanied by an adult and will not be admitted unless an adult is coming in, too!

The middle section of the pool will NOT be open due to lap swim occurring from 11:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m.

You may continue to stay at the pool after this designated time is over at no additional cost.

Cost: $5 per person, children 3 and under are free. Pool passes accepted.
