The Ohio Northern women's tennis team continued to show its dominance in the Ohio Athletic Conference as it posted its seventeenth upper-division OAC finish during the 2017-18 campaign under the watch of 17th-year head coach Scott Wills.
Mackenzie Wills, Ada High School grad and ONU sophomore, finished 23-7 in singles, including 7-1 in the OAC. In doubles, she posted a 20-10 record, including 6-2 in the OAC.
The Polar Bears finished second in the OAC standings for the third consecutive season, and finished in the top-2 of the OAC standings for the eighth straight season.
Christina A. Williams, age 86, died on Thursday, June 28, 2018 at 1:57 p.m. at Lima Memorial Health System.
She was born on December 24, 1931 in Floyd County, Kentucky to the late Willard and Rebecca (Patton) Bailey. On August 25, 1947 Christina married Ned L. Williams, they celebrated 56 years together. Ned preceded her in death on April 8, 2003.
Christina was a member of the Maysville United Methodist Church. She taught Sunday school, led Bible studies and was President of the Ladies Missionary Circle. Christina served as the secretary/treasurer for the Sunday school for over thirty years.
St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, 125 S. Johnson, serves a free community meal from 5-6:30 p.m. the last Wednesday of the month. Church members have provided this service for several years. For the fourth year, the local community will celebrate the 4th of July with a free Patriotic Pops Concert by the Lima Symphony Orchestra beginning at 7 p.m. on Saturday.
Kirsten Osbun-Manley will once again be featured soloist and, for the first time, the Noteworthy Community Choir of Ada will perform.
The grant will focus on curricular change and instilling the entrepreneurial mindset in the areas of civil engineering, computer engineering, computer science and electrical engineering
The Ohio Northern University College of Engineering has received a $1.31 million, three-year grant from the Kern Family Foundation to further instill the entrepreneurial mindset in engineering and computer science students.
The Ada Exempted board of education has opening for a board member due to the resignation of Ms. Nancy Wood Allison for reasons of change of residency. Ms. Wood Allison’s resignation will be effective July 20.
The board will accept letters of interest from anyone wishing to be considered for the seat. The term will expire on Dec. 31, 2019, at which time a two-year unexpired term will be available during the November 2019 election. That term will begin in January of 2020.
