Ready Set Grow at Ada First United Methodist Church

The October 2021 meeting of the Ada Area Chamber of Commerce was hosted at the newly renovated Beatitudes thrift shop and community center, 201 N. Main St. Director Deb Curliss announced that membership has reached 105, an all-time high.

The Village of Ada expected to begin leaf pickup on Monday, October 25 but beautiful, warm weather has caused a delay in autumn leaf drop.

The Village will delay the service by one week. The start date will now be Monday, November 1 and will follow the remaining schedule as posted on the leaf collection notice.

If you have leaves coming down now, the Village crew will pick up bagged leaves before the start of November.

The Ada girls soccer team lost 7-0 at Cory-Rawson in Div. III sectional tournament first round play Tuesday evening, October 19.

The Lady Bulldogs end their season 2-12-1 after the defeat.

Eighth-seeded C-R improved to 5-10-1 with the shutout win. The Hornet girls advance to the second round at top-seeded Liberty-Benton October 21 at 6 p.m.

The Hornets led 3-0 at halftime, and tallied four more scores after intermission.

The Ada volleyball team battled hard but lost at conference rival Columbus Grove in Div. IV sectional first round tournament play Tuesday night, October 19.

The purple and gold Lady Bulldogs finished the season 2-19 after the 25-20, 25-18, 25-9 defeat.

Grove improved to 8-13 and advanced to the second round of the tournament with the win. Fifth-seeded CG will play at fourth seed Pandora-Gilboa Oct. 21.

Junior Courtney Sumner hit four kills, served one ace and came up with eight digs to lead Ada. Senior Lexi White hustled up a team-high 18 digs. 

Sophomore Daicy Robinson knocked down four kills. Senior Selena Jordan contributed three kills. 

The Ada Schools will hold their annual Veterans’ Breakfast this year on Thursday, November 11 at 8:00 a.m. in the school cafeteria. The schools desire to honor all deserving veterans and their families. They will offer the traditional breakfast with a short program. However, if any veterans are uncomfortable attending in person because of health concerns, they will offer a pick up option. Any who desire the pick up options should tell the school when they make reservations.
