Mary Elisabeth Hopson, age 53, of Dunkirk, passed away on Monday, October 7, 2024 at Bridge Hospice Care Center, Findlay. 

She was born on December 26, 1970 in Lima, Ohio to the Kenneth and Phyllis (Vanscoy) Hopson, Sr.  

Mary is survived by her four children: Cassandra (Eric) Lightner of Kenton, Sheign (Ariana) Hopson of Kenton, Kamryn Hopson of Kenton and Sahbastion Hopson of Dunkirk; four grandchildren: Kendra, George, Brody and Tyler; a brother, Kenneth (Amber) Hopson of Dola; and two sisters: Leasa Hopson of Lima and Jennifer (Chuck Pauley) of Dola. 

She was preceded in death by her brother, Kenneth Hopson, Jr.

ADA - The Ada High School boys soccer team scored early in bunches to dominate visiting Lima Central Catholic 11-0 on “Kicking it for Cancer Night” Monday, October 7, at War Memorial Stadium.

On the afternoon of Monday, October 7, Ohio Northern University issued the following notice regarding the lockdown of the Lehr administration building due to an email threat. Later in the day, the university posted a notice that the Lehr Building will resume normal operations on Tuesday Oct. 8, 2024 at 8:00 a.m.

The Regal Beagle, 105 N. Main St., celebrated its grand opening on Saturday, October 5. In a Facebook annoucement, the owners noted, "As we embark on this exciting journey, we want to remind everyone that this is a fresh start for the Regal Beagle. PANDORA - The Ada High School volleyball team concluded its first Blanchard Valley Conference season with a three-set loss at tough Pandora-Gilboa Monday night, October 6.

P-G swept Ada 25-19, 25-12, 25-11.

With the loss, the Bulldogs fell to 10-11 overall and finished 3-7 in the BVC to end up eighth in the 11-team league standings.

P-G improved to 15-5 overall and 8-1 in BVC play with the sweep to stay tied for second place with Liberty-Benton. Leipsic leads the BVC at 9-0.

Ada senior Tess Griffith led the way with nine kills and seven digs.
