ADA - The Ada baseball team lost to visiting rival Bluffton 9-4 in the Northwest Conference opener on a very chilly, damp Thursday evening.
The loss dropped the Bulldogs, playing for the first time in 10 days due to bad weather, to 1-1 overall and 0-1 in the NWC. The Pirates improved to 1-1 and 1-0 in the league after the win.
Ada led 3-1 after three innings, but Bluffton edged within 3-2 after four frames. The visitors broke it open with five runs in the fifth, and the Pirates added two more in the sixth for insurance.
ADA - The host Ada softball team dominated its Northwest Conference opener against local rival Bluffton, winning 10-2 on a raw, cold Thursday evening.
Playing for the first time in six days due to consistently inclement weather, Ada improved to 2-1 and 1-0 in the NWC with the victory. The Pirates fell to 2-1 and 0-1 in the NWC with the defeat.
"Raina England had a great night at the plate," said coach Troy Erickson. "We got contributions from everybody up and down the lineup."
RIDGEWAY - The host Ridgemont baseball team pushed across 10 runs in the fourth inning to post a 12-4 comeback win over county rival Ada on a windy, cold Friday evening.
The loss dropped the Bulldogs to 1-2 overall. The Gophers improved to 2-3 with the victory.
Ada jumped ahead 4-0 in the top of the first frame. Junior Austin Amburgey capped the big opening inning with a two-run double.
Bulldog sophomore Phillip Coulson started the game with a single and eventually scored, as did senior Colten Shaffer.
