Suddenly it seems there’s an event planned every day in Ada.
It takes eight pages of single-spaced type to track all these Ada April and May events, and Darlene Bowers, our calendar complier, shares it all with Icon viewers.
Ada April and May Hometown Happenings includes:
• Community events
• Ada schools
• Ohio Northern University
• The Freed Center
• ONU Observatory
• The Inn at ONU
• Public meetings
• Village service schedule
• Ada Public Library
The calendar is attached as a Word document, so it’s printer-friendly, ready to print and post on your bulletin board.
Ohio Supreme Justice Judith L. French had a busy day on campus on Wednesday. She spoke to Prof. Kathie Fleck’s public relations class and later helped judge the Cekebrezze moot court competition at the law school. Justice French has served on the Ohio Supreme Court since 2014. She will be up for election in 2020 for a six-year term. Here she chats with Connor Gillmor before he interviews her for ONU’s 3-TV. Ada Technologies, better known locally as ATI, sits on the east edge of town where the company has produced parts for Honda and other auto manufacturers for over 20 years.
The newly-constructed north entrance and parking lot of the Ada Public Library is now open. The entrance on the west side facing Main Street will remain an entrance, as well.
The library will be open its regular hours on Good Friday. Those hours are 10 a.m. until 5 p.m.
OTTOVILLE - The Ada softball team scored eight runs in the fourth inning and cruised to a 14-0 win in its delayed season opener at non-league foe Ottoville Wednesday evening.
Freshman Leona Dalton fired a five-inning shutout in her debut, and aided her own cause with two hits, a run batted in and three runs scored. Dalton struck out five and walked none in the run-rule shortened, complete-game effort.
The Lady Bulldogs scored two runs in the first inning, then added one in the second and three more in the third to build a 6-0 cushion. They then put the game out of reach with eight more in the fourth frame.
