Ada Area Chamber of Commerce hosts its annual meeting at noon, Wednesday, Feb. 21, in the Wishing Well in McIntosh Center at Ohio Northern University, according to Deb Curlis, chamber director.
The meeting takes the place of the chamber’s regular monthly meeting.
The meeting will include a review of the chamber’s activities in 2017. In addition, the chamber will recognize a business of the year.
The chamber accepts nominations for that recognition until noon on Friday, Feb. 16. RSVPs for the dinner are also on the 16th. Tickets are $15 each.
The Ada-Liberty Township Fire and EMS was called to a two-alarm fire that destroyed the residence of Hugh and Eilma Reis, 0532 Hardin County Road 80 on Sunday evening.
Hardin County dispatch received a call at approxiimately 4:21 p.m. on Sunday. The call reported fire and heavy smoke coming from the house. The caller mentioned that someone may be entrapped.
According to the sheriff's office Mr. Reis is the only persons believed to be in the houseB at the time of the fire. Earlier this morning he had not be located and his whereabouts were unknown.
LIMA - The Ada girls and boys swim teams competed in the Div. II swim sectionals at the Lima YMCA Saturday, with three Bulldog athletes qualifying for the district meet next Friday.
Ada sophomore Klava Katayama won the 100 butterfly race and finished second in the 50 freestyle to qualify for the Bowling Green district event in both events.
Katayama dominated in the 100 fly, out-distancing second-place finisher Claire Gass of Celina by 3.64 seconds. She set a Div. II Lima girls sectional meet record at 58.89. Her time would have placed her in the top eight in the state finals 100 fly race in 2017.
