A portion of the far east side of the village occasionally would flood during a deluge. Thus, a storm sewer project is being undertaken to remedy the situation.
A small, old, clay tile is being replaced with a large 36-inch tile placed 12 feet deep.
Zee Contractors, Holland, Ohio, is doing the work for $347,000 with 80 percent paid by the state.

Marilyn Jean Sumney is in the Resident Spotlight at Vancrest this month. The newsletter says that Jean once raised 200 rose bushes. Being a switchboard operator was her favorite job. The newsletter continues:

The ONU Observatory will be open to the public from 8 until 10 p.m. tonight (Friday, March 3) when the crescent Moon will be high in the southwest to see Lunar features such as Posidonius Crater with its fissures and the area where Apollo 11 landed.
Mission commander Neil Armstrong and pilot Buzz Aldrin landed the Apollo 11 lunar module Eagle on July 20, 1969. They were the first two humans on the moon.
Other targets Friday include Venus, Mars, and deep-sky objects.

By now, I'm sure you have heard from various sources that the White House plans to balance the federal budget by eliminating several agencies, including the National Endowment for the Humanities, the National Endowment for the Arts, and the Corporation for Public Broadcasting.
As I write, Congress is finalizing a budget for 2017, which includes a significant increase for NEH. However, we do anticipate that the President's budget proposal for 2018 will include proposals to defund these three agencies, among others.
